HOPE’s own John Hope Bryant shares tips on importance of financial literacy

Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO returned to Los Angeles Saturday, April 2, to keynote the 2011 California Financial Literacy Conference for Educators at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Sharing tips and tools with educators on how to integrate personal finance education into their classrooms, Bryant also introduced attendees to Banking on Our Future trainers who pledged to help bring volunteers into their classrooms to teach financial literacy.

Hosted by the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), the 2011 California Financial Literacy Conference for Educators gathered a community of educators throughout California. The event will empower many of the state’s K-12 educator’s community colleges, nonprofits, businesses, community groups, financial professionals, government agencies and others to fight financial illiteracy by educating a new generation of Californians to manage their finances.

CalCPA is the nation’s largest state accounting organization and the largest CPA association in California. It serves 36,000 members in public practice, private industry, education and government. Through CalCPA Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, CalCPA members provide financial literacy programs to high schools and community groups. (www.calcpa.org)
